ABOUT ME

Only a few things in life are as satisfying as watching a federal election campaign unfold. As a reporter, I'd love to cover a federal election every year. Unfortunately, I'm also a citizen and I want stability from my government.

To my friends who simply don't understand the attraction to politics,I tell them it's like watching hockey, except that it matters. Just like hockey (or celebrity gossip, if that's your drug), politics is a grand story made up of concurrent and intertwining storylines that all lead to the same point - Election Day.

As a 26-year-old, the fact I care about federal politics puts me in the minority. I live in downtown Toronto with two friends who tune out when I start talking politics, or hockey, for that matter. People, in general, are tuning out campaigns in increasingly large numbers, but my hope is that through provocative and informative coverage, including blogs like this one, people will regain interest and vote.

That goal may be based on naiveté and false optimism, but I believe people do care...they're just not sure how to care. That can be changed.
