PHOTO: Prime Minister Stephen Harper shows Mississauga-Streetsville MP Wajid Khan where he'd like to ship him, and how.
It's Super Tuesday in the States, and the numbers are coming in. What do the numbers mean? I don't have a clue. This is too confusing.
What I do know is that it was a Super Saturday for our old friend Wajid Khan, the Mississauga-Streetsville MP.
After a few months in limbo, Khan was re-admitted to the Conservative Party this past weekend.
He pleaded guilty for overspending during the 2004 election campaign. He was fined $500. Breaking the rules does not disqualify one from being a Conservative MP, though, so Khan was taken back.
Now, back in blue, after being elected twice in the riding as a Liberal, he will take on Liberal candidate Bonnie Crombie.
It is a Liberal riding, as all Mississauga ridings appear to be nowadays, and, unless Harper has an inspired campaign or Dion falls on his face, Mississauga will likely stay red, regardless of who's running.
It's definitely worth noting that most voters vote based on the leaders or out of habit. Some vote based on the issues. And others, a very small percentage, vote based on local candidates.
However, when local candidates get big in the news, more people vote based on the local candidates. This was seen with shocking clarity during the provincial election, when a whole lot of people in Mississauga South voted against Progressive Conservative Tim Peterson because he had crossed the floor.
Peterson wasn't helped by the poor province-wide campaign by John Tory, but one person who helped Peterson door-knock called the canvassing experience "The Walk of Death." Apparently, nearly every single door complained about Tory's faith-based schools funding plan or Peterson's floor-crossing.
You can bet that a whole lot of people in Mississauga-Streetsville will be asking about Khan's floor-crossing and his 2004 over-spending.
I know it's pretty early to make predictions, but I'd guess that Liberal Leader Stephane Dion would have to be convicted of mass murder during the election campaign before the voters in Mississauga-Streetsville would turn away Crombie.
As one source, albeit a Liberal source, said to me, "I think the Conservatives have given up on Mississauga-Streetsville."

Coincidently, while Harris and Eves were pulling off the “Colin Powell Desert Storm” strategy that jammed John Tory’s own radar communications, it’s the down loading of social services that was being installed thru Peel Fair Share Steering Committee into the 905 faith communities since 1993.
Tim Peterson must have been at the wrong church, St Mary’s By the Sea, at the wrong time, because it’s the Compass Outreach Centre that does the initial food bank distribution behind the running of social services for Mississauga South. All Bonnie Crombie has to do is reconstruct the inconsistencies with the 1989 shut down of her Streetsville‘s Military facilities, Fathom Oceanology, Campobello Road and ride out the $230,000 Mulroney/ Schreiber storm to reach Industry Minister Sandra Pupatello’s own conclusions.
I’m spoofed why McGuinty thru his Privy Council went in opposite directions with Bill 132 the infamous puppy bill then trashed 4 years of transparency Bills 99,123 , 142 and 161 Employment Agencies on the last minute rubble pile that left Marie Bountrogianni, Vic Dhillon , Carolyn Di Cocco walking the same blank before Tim Peterson and John Tory went for beers on a similar Saturday Dog Day After noon at the 2006 Port Credit Jazz Festival.

I know nothing about Bonnie Crombie but I would vote for her and the Liberals before I would ever vote for Wajid Khan. And this comment is from a card-carrying member of the Conservative Party!

Muriel got it right when she wrote:
I'm a liberal who supported Wajid Khan in his campaign *BLUSH*.
And I've vote Conservative if Khan this very second were to "see the light" and double-back back to the Liberals.
That makes two "Anyone but Khan" votes right there.

The disguised libs attempting to pass as Conservatives for the purpose of denigrating the federal MP from Mississauga Streetsvile, show how much confidence they have in their candidate, and probably rightfully so. I am still waiting for an answer to a question I asked her during the bread and honey festival regarding the sponsership scandal.

seems to me that a lot of people are throwing comments into the dark. Like "I don't know anything about Crombie, but I'd vote for her"!!! What kind of empty minded comment is that? Khan may have over-spent during 2004 campaign - What kind of crime is that? Get Real. Let's look at what else he's done. It seems to me he making some progress, here in Mississauga and for Canada. I, for one, at least have found that he is approachable and will take time out for his constituents. Which is more than I can say for others - at any level in politics.

Let us not forget that the "overspending" was done as a liberal candidate. It is frightening to think that there are people out there that would so frivilously throw away their democratic right without even the slightest thought. A rebel vote does no justice for the country, nor does sending another liberal to office. I will be voting for a party that represents accountability and efficiency in office. A government that has a voice of their own, not one that follows the front page story of the day or daily opinion polls.

The Mississauga Board of Trade, Sheryl McKean should wire these guy’s up to our GTA “MVM Polygraph Lie Detector” services on the air just to deter people from hijacking $100,000 to $200,000 a year public salaries that motivate “Public-Servants” into lying under partisan peer pressure as they do ever where else except “Ontario and New Brunswick”. http://www.torontopolygraph.com/services.htm

When Khan over spent in his campaign he did it because he was misguided by non other than the Liberal Party campaign advisors. Come on are you telling me that he over spent intentionally? He was brand new to politics you don't even know what the outcome is until it really comes forward. Two, khan has shown courage by actually going and visiting all the places that Canada wants peace and stability to prevail, i.e, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is genuinly interested in working for a better and stronger Canada. Besides where is the leadership in the Liberal Party? The leader himself is an envirnomentalist who couldn't do much when he was Environment Minister. Let the man do his job, he has substance, class and is outspoken in all aspects. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Kahn couldn’t be any more closer to passing the MVM Polygraph lie detection test knowing that Harper’s own personnel speech writer is dangerously spinning the same Public Private Partners to “Get us natives out of the Park” before “Peels Pooling” and “One Time Reallocation Allowances” hit an all time recession.
“interference is totally improper and contrary to our Charter of Rights” after the fact our T-4 slips and HRDC Occupational Codes had disappeared during this Mulroney/Schreiber epidemic carried over by Harris and Eves.
To debunk this myth on political affiliations , there’s never been North American “Statutes of Limitations” applied against constitutional short term gain since the 1865 Appomattox Campaign, the 1974 Watergate hearings or Mulroner/Schreiber sell- outs. Collectively they're Republican/Democrat-Liberal coalitions traditionally instigated by Confederate conflict of interest codes.

I've met Wajid in person on two separate occasions and I find him to be very likable on a personal level.
As far as his politics goes, he brought Mississauga the cash for transit funding after other politicians who claimed to represent us failed to deliver.
Wajid delivered, others didn't, and at the end of the day, for me the bottom line counts. I will continue to vote for him.

Wajid Khan is responsible for bringing in lots of funding for the Mississauga transit. I was at a meeting where JiM Fleherty was speaking and I distinctly remember him saying that it is because of Wajid Khan that today we see the success in our transit system. What were previous Mps don't in mississauga? Pointing fingers against the American policies, what will that do? Get you kicked out of parliament by losing as an independent. Khan is a principled man, he's an ex fighter pilot, a true Canadian success story so value his talent since people like him don't come everyday. I would vote for him anyday. I can totally say he alone has more international personal political contacts than our PM himself!

Ah yes the all too often sad fear tactics that politcal rivals play to cast shadow on those of strength. These moronic anti khan comments are more than evidently posted by Crombie supporters who fear that Khan rightfully will keep his MP position in this riding, based upon his own personal merit rather than the party he is in. I truly believe that it is the individual that delivers rather than the colour they sport, and Khan has continuously demonstrated that he can deliver in the interest of all. I'll vote for Khan because for two terms he has contributed to his constituents, because he crossed the floor in order to retain the ability to make a difference rather than be a back bencher who only sits in parliament and does nothing, and because i haven't forgotten the qualities that a leader should have. A man should not back down from his principles and what he believes in due to adversity but rather act for the benefit of others even when adversaries will spin his actions off as being otherwise. Those qualities are just not visible in Crombie, and constituents of this riding will reflect that in the polls if they choose wisely.

Let's start by Brian Mulroney returning the $2.1 million back into the public coppers “ with bell’s on ” and then the conservatives should quit screwing themselves while “ Passing Off” as Republicans.

With the greatest of respect, you do not know what you are talking about.
When I left the PC Ontario Fund Board of Directors in March 2002, the Party was in a surplus position. After March 2002, I was no longer a director of the PCOF, was no longer chief of staff to the Party leader and (except for riding association president) no longer had any position of responsibility within the PC Party.
I am as concerned as all Party members that within two years the Party was deep in debt, and I am equally concerned about the manner in which that debt was created. In fact, at the next Party convention I intend to propose constitutional amendments to prevent this from happening again.
Then again, that probably doesn’t matter to you since it doesn’t look like you’re a Conservative anyway.

Of all the thingies to coherently consider , you’ve should have gone go back to the drafting board before the Tory Blue Book stated How, Why, and When Peel Region was to secretly raise Mississauga property taxes $66 million a year since 1997 contrary to the 1999 Tax Payers Protection Act after Mulroney and Schreiber had shut down our Streetsville and Malton manufacturing facilities “Fathom Oceanology/ McDonnell Douglas “ in the late 80”s after EI was “bait and switched ” into General revenues.

Jane Stewart may fallen for the HRDC sucker set-up, but then again the other shoe just fell on Brian Mulroney after Mike Harris mistakenly presumed there were “Statutes of Limitation’s” in our Ontario Criminal Codes in which there are not.
