Here's the BBC report on Tony Blair's speech at the Reuters HQ from earlier today.
Blair is gone in 15 days, and he used this opportunity to call out reporters and their beast-like ways.
I actually heard part of his speech on CBC Radio One as I was on my way to a school board meeting this evening. I have to say, though I haven't heard the entire speech yet, I do agree with him.
***UPDATE***
You can find the Youtube video of Tony Blair talking about the speech here.
Even if you don't care to see the video, check out the link. 10 Downing Street has its own Youtube site. Pretty Cool.
Here's the text of the speech.

Mr. MacBride,
I just read the text of Tony Blair's speech.
WOW --what a gift! (I'd likely never have come upon it myself).
Blair GETS IT! He REALLY does. This part:
"But here is also the opportunity. At present we are all being dragged by the way media and public life interact. Trust in journalists is not much above that in politicians. Yet there is a market in providing serious balanced news. There is a desire for impartiality. The way that people get their news may be changing, but the thirst for news being real news is not."
There it is:
"Yet there is a market in providing serious balanced news. There is a desire for impartiality."
For some, there's actually a DESPERATION for impartiality.
Thanks so much for this true gem.
