ENERSOURCE KERFUFFLE

From our MissyNews:

"So what's the deal? Sale or no sale?

April 10, 2008 09:32 PM - Yesterday, the Toronto Star reported that Mississauga city council had decided to sell off the City’s 90 per cent share in Enersource — a decision which took many by surprise, even the mayor.

Hazel McCallion returned yesterday from a trade mission in the far East, and immediately phoned Mississauga News City Hall reporter Joe Chin to express her concern over council’s decision in her absence.

McCallion said it was taken without public input, and it wasn’t right that Enersource employees learned about the sale on the front page of a newspaper.

Now, however, acting mayor Pat Saito is saying she was surprised by the story too, because the decision to sell hasn’t actually yet happened. Saito told Chin that all council decided on Wednesday was to effectively float the idea that the utility could be for sale… for the right price.

While confusion reigns at City Hall, the decision to sell the debt-ridden utility is long overdue, especially since this is the city that prides itself on being ‘debt free’."

I was there to the bitter end and videotaped the post "closed-meeting" announcement. Saito is right. And the video will bear her out.

XXXOOO,
The (QUIS CUSTODIET IPSOS CUSTODES?) Mississauga Muse

To readers (fellow cranks, fellow cretins, fellow miscreants, fellow malcontents, fellow ****heads, fellow nutbars, fellow lunatics, fellow crazies, fellow ****disturbers and above all, fellow citizens) I'm still very much nostrils-deep into research. Blog entries will remain ...umm... non-linear.

P.S. I should have RAMBOgate "Rambo Wins the Day" Googled later today.

Saturday, April 12, 2008 UPDATE 4:13 pm. I have tried three times to upload "Rambo Wins the Day" --video of last Wednesday's Mississauga Council meeting to Google Video. All three have been unsuccessful. Since YouTube accepts a max of 10 minutes and the "Rambo Wins the Day" is almost half-an-hour, we now have to wait until I can get Google Video to accept this upload. I suspect the problem is Google Video (it's been burping its cookies lately). Anyway. Trust. Quality, Excellence. Tra La. Outta here.
