Yesterday's Blog was called, "THIS BLOG ENTRY IS DEDICATED TO DONALD BARBER --a fellow "dredge" [sic] of society" and was dedicated to Mississauga activist, Donald Barber.
Today's Blog, "MISSISSAUGA CITY (Corporate) SECURITY "He said. THEY SAID." is also dedicated to Donald Barber --a fellow "nothing but a malcontent".
"nothing but a malcontent" was a criticism fired at us this week. It was served up cold on a platter via the Internet by an individual who says that he's worked 20 years in enforcement and spent five of those years as a former Toronto Corporate Security guard.
"nothing but a malcontent"
A reminder that yesterday his comments included:
"I have worked in Corporate Security for the city of Toronto for five years, as well as being employed by a police force. You seem to be nothing but a malcontent who does nothing with your free time other than harassing security officers and elected officials who are trying to do their jobs. Do you even have a job ?"
The Mississauga Muse has HAD IT --like, Totally-End-of-her-rope-HAD IT with these Security types.
It's HAD IT time.
Today, MississaugaWatch will respond to the former City/Corporate Security guard's "You seem to be nothing but a malcontent who does nothing with your free time other than harassing security officers and elected officials who are trying to do their jobs." .
Yes. Today, MississaugaWatch will share with readers some of the reasons why we've been so obsessing with municipal security guards and municipal video surveillance.
Today we reveal the writings of another City (Corporate) Security guard --this guard closer to home --like, waaaaaaaaaaaaay closer to home.
We'll leave the perceptive reader to figure out what municipal government security force this Net-Dude works for. What follows are cuts-and-pastes from a few of the 583 "posts" he's contributed to the forum blueline.ca since joining on Sep 19, 2005.
HERE WE GO --so you'll know. Words from another City Security guard...
“Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. A little about me. I work for a Municipal Government as a Corporate Security Officer and have the staus of a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer. My team's main function is to enfore our citys parks by-law and the TPA inside parks & Community Centres"
"I have over 500 parks, 11 community centres, 12 areans, 2 marinas and a transit system. Now they probablly do a good job at what they do, but I don't think theres anything "average" about the area I deal with or lets say the Region that Munlaw has to work with. Where I work were kinda unique since we also do security, so I've dealt with everything from Sex Assaults to minor thefts and almost everything in between."
From mississauga.ca website:
"Mississauga has more than 480 parks and woodlands for you to discover."
The City of Mississauga has 11 community centres.
The City of Mississauga has 12 arenas.
The City of Mississauga even has a transit system.
These of course, aren't the only clues, that this is a City of Mississauga Corporate Security guard. There's this, about an incident during Christmas 2005:
"Gave out two tags yesterday, was gonna feel bad about it until she started giving the holier than thou attitude....merry christmas now pay up the $800”
"Yup they played that line too.. So me and my partner being in the spirit of things kinda told her in a nice polite way that her and her B/F were being let off really easy.....Once we explained that they had each committed 4 offences for a grand total of $3K, well she quit her babbling and left
Honestly I would never jack someone for that much in one sitting... actually wait I would."
MississaugaWatch followed that up with a Freedom of Information requesting "Number of tags issued by Corporate Security Mobile Officers December 25, 2005." Here's the result. BINGO!

This post was especially worrisome...
"Actually with out letting on where I work, I have done this before because the client was rapidly become hostile and was going to get violent. So I let him walk beacuse no back up was arriving in time. And wouldn't you know, the next weekend I ran into him again, same bat time same bat channel. Only this time there were 3 of us vs. him. Lets just say that the Administration of Justice was not the one dragged through the cement ...er rather mud... yeah the soft squishy stuff
Never had someone apologize to me so many times for doing something illegal.....ya think maybe the 1K in tags helped"
More posts. Please note: Actual profanity has been filtered with the use of *asterisks*
“Thanks for the input. I forgot about the fail to leave argument Most of the time I will tell the s***head to get lost and then if they fail the attitude test that is when the road becomes a 1 way street,. my way”
And:
"Actually the higher ups are now realizing that we are doing a police function by responding along side the PS. The local PS had actually approached the city and our management about 2 years ago and practically handed over the papers to start our S/Cst status. "
Readers may now understand my interest in researching Special Constables...
Continuing:
"Dealing with youths all the time lets you see how bad some parents can really be. Tonight my parnter and I were dealing with a group of idiots partying in a park."
And:
"Yep I knew what you were saying. As for little Johnny sending a bill won't change thier mind as in most situations they don't have the money in the first place."
Readers may now understand why I've been stating that the Poor and Youth likely get nailed the worst...
"It would be ideal to see all provincial enforcement officers (MTO, MOE) and S/Cst armed (either with a Chunk or a Taser) however in canada that is not in tune with the political climate, at least not yet. "
Yep, "all" sporting a a Chunk or a Taser --"ideal" all right...
Nothing against [Name of Security Company] or anyone who works for them.... well what am I saying... If memory serves [Name of Security Company] has had some of the biggest f*** ups with their Guards
In a later post...
"You think [Name of Mall] security is bad.every once in a while we get assigned to do midnight to 8am park patrols to prevent vandalism, and the city got a temp one week contract with [Same Security Company as Above!],"...
Readers may now understand my interest and research into contract security companies hired by The City of Mississauga.
"True there are much worse than your company, as I work with one of the "look a like's" who provide contract security to our city for some strange reason. "
"look a like's" refers to security guards looking like Police. Recall, I've been alerting people to how security cars look like Police cars. Well, security guard uniforms can "look a like" those of Police officers.
Some more.
"....for example... one of my team mates was investigating a guy speaking to women in a rude manner in a park. He got there and the guy was all calm and co-operative but a little MHA so he called for a PC to attend. So when the PC showed up all hell broke loose. "
When the forum discusses Pet Peeves, our guy's Pet Peeves include:
"#3: calling me "boss": I ain't your boss or your Bag Of S***.
#4: Can I see your ID Please: why my taxes pay your salary, you know who I am.....Yes your one of the hundreds of ***holes that think thats funny. So when I give you the ticket you know where your moneys going."
#5 (breviated) How about this sir, I'll finish my lunch since I've been working for 8hr's with out any break, then when I'm done eating I'll tow your car so you can feel satisfied that your tax dollars are well spent, or maybe I'll watch you while you use the park and give you a ticket beacuse I can"
That's the bottomline --"beacuse I can". Because he can.
One last one, dear readers
"I guess you've figured out where I "may" work although work is a very foggy state of mind today"
Yeah, MississaugaWatch figured out where he worked. Freedom of Information helped too.
I shared all these emails (and more) with Mayor Hazel McCallion (cc'd to all Councillors) on Tue, 20 Mar 2007.
This is what I got back from Mayor McCallion on Mon, 16 Apr 2007 (also cc'd to all Councillors).
"With respect to your e-mail regarding the individual using the alias "-----" to post messages on the Internet message board blueline.ca, considering that an alias is used, there is no way of discovering the true identity of this person, nor can it be definitively ascertained that it was a City staff who posted such messages. However, in light of these messages, this matter will be raised with City security staff and it will be made clear to them that they shall not post inappropriate information on the Internet."
Yet if it were a kid in school who posted inappropriate messages --even from home... he'd be found!
And remember there's this from Freedom of Information... They could'a discovered "the true identity".

There's more --lots more, as you might imagine. Big day today --February 1st. Been following that one almost a year too. Bill 212. (If you liked Bill 130...)
Always more...
"IN THE INTEREST OF FAIRNESS AND COOPERATION"
The Corporation of the City of Mississauga likes to use that phrase. "In the interest of fairness and cooperation"...
"In the interest of fairness and cooperation" MississaugaWatch will share email we received this week from The Corporation of the City of Mississauga regarding its City (Corporate) Security. It reads in part:
"In view of Corporate Security's special enforcement responsibilities within the City, Legal Services, Corporate Security and Management Services are developing a formal code of conduct and complaints procedure for Corporate Security which will be tabled for Council's consideration in the upcoming months. This information will be posted on the City's website and will be readily accessible to the public with the objective of providing a clear, consistent procedure for lodging any complaints against Corporate Security. It will also outline how such complaints will be handled once they have been received by the City. "
The City of Mississauga was incorporated in 1974. Hazel McCallion was elected Mayor in 1978.
1978.
It's now 2008 --30 years later.
For anyone still reading this far, for the record. Don Barber and I couldn't agree on when to go up in front of Council.
Me, I still had Freedom of Informations coming in --I insisted on waiting. Having read the above emails, having been arrested by Mississauga Corporate Security and having B'in There, Done That, Mr. Barber felt compelled to spare others his experience. Especially Youth and those too Poor to afford real lawyers.
He refused to wait.
It was Don Barber's December 12, 2007 Council deputation on Mississauga City Security that surely got the admission that after 30 years --30 years-- McCallion's Security Guards --have no specific Code of Conduct or a public complaints procedure.
This despite, former Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, John Gerretsen writing in a Fri, 19 Jan 2007 email:
"It is the duty of a municipal council to ensure that policies, practices and procedures are in place, and to ensure the accountability and transparency of the operations of the municipality. It is also the duty of the head of council to make recommendations to council on these issues"
Anyway... Time for a video.
Please watch, Mr. Barber's December 12, 2007 "He said. THEY SAID" deputation. It'll help readers to see Don Barber as we do.
VIDEO: "MISSISSAUGA CITY SECURITY. He said. THEY SAID".

Like. QUIS CUSTODIET IPSOS CUSTODES, dudes...?
As always, thanks to Don Barber.
Signed,
The (And wait til you find out what BIG BROTHER's done with video surveillance) Mississauga Muse

All the more reason Mrs. McCallion should step aside and let Carolyn and Carmen fix this $66 million a year "Pooling"
As a CN compensated survivor of the same 1979 Mavis Road Train derailment and evacuation, "Mulroney and Harris" had re-molded Peel Region as the "Trojan Horse" to transferred the EI HRDC revenue into the $54 billion surplus. These Insurance programs operate outside our sections 6) Mobility Right and 7) Legal Rights etc… etc… of our fundamental Rights just before Mulroney handed the job over to Kim Campbell in 1993.

Hey there, Mac's Gang!
Happy to see you drop by here. I'm a faithful John Stewart Blog reader and I've read your comments there.
Been following Rambo closely.
Mr. Stewart's last Blog made mention of a Pro-Rambo protest this month.
Stewart wrote:
I have to be at the Peel Police Services Board meeting that day at 9:30 so I hope your protest is in the afternoon or an all-day-sucker.
Not really planning to protest --just video'ing your event for historical purposes.

I've been really looking at the behaviour of politicians and their relationship with each other. Municipal to municipal plus municipal to provincial.
Results are still preliminary, mind you, but I've pretty much concluded they're not "dumba$$" at all.
Even what we-citizens perceive as "flaws" in their bylaws and legislation aren't the result of some DUH Factor on their part.
They KNOW what they're doing. Those flaws and holes are put there on purpose --weaved right into the fabric of their bills.
Bill 130 Amendments to the Municipal Act. Absolutely certain the flaws were put in there on purpose.
Bill 159 Private Investigators Bill... municipal security guards aren't covered. I know why.
And Rambo's caught up in Bill 132...
Don't know much about Bill 132 except this. If it's anything like the other two Liberal Legi-turds flung out of Queen's Park... you can bet it was for Appearances.
Appearances.
By the way, I'm liberal --in case people think I'm a conservative dumping on Dalton.
Nope. Just a liberal disgusted and embarrassed by McGuinty et al.

You`d win that bet!
I`m waaay out of town(like 6+ hrs) so I won`t be at Rambo`s protest but I hope the protesters and others remember the main Ontario Legal Challenge to Bill 132.
Rambo is not the only innocent dog on death row due to Bill 132.
This will take place in the Ontario Superior Appeal Court
probably in June or Sept/08.
No definite date yet.

If you believe the Canadian Charter of Rights should also apply to Ontario dog owners!

They lost my support over Bill 132!

Our Charter of Rights hasn't yet applied to us $10 a year Flick-Off memberships because McGuinty's aborted all the Transparency Bills before the "bait and switch" with Red Herring Bills while $1000 a year memberships began phasing in inner core memberships.
Before media poles recorded the October 2007 provincial election turn out as the worst in Ontario history, nobody knows what's happened with taxation by representation?
George Washington developed this concept " shoot when you can see the whites of McGuinty's eyes" because you can still slip pee-shooters passed the security galleries at Queen's Park after February under the $10 economy package.

Let's assume for a moment that the Corporation of the City of Mississauga is telling the truth: nobody in the Corporation--not the Mayor, the City Manager, the Commissioner of Corporate Services, not even the excellent trustworthy investigators of Corporate Security--can figure out who your "Net-Dude" could be. What would the Best City in Canada do to Move Forward?
One would hope that they'd say, "Well, this person is too clever for us but we will make clear to our Corporate Security personnel that behaviour such as this person describes will simply not be tolerated and is grounds for dismissal."
Instead we get, "...this matter will be raised with City security staff and it will be made clear to them that they shall not post inappropriate information on the Internet." WHAT?!
Not "Thou shalt not bully," but "Thou shalt not embarrass us by posting about it on the Internet."

Actually that's no word of a lie.
[editted: Now darlin' you know I can't publish somethin' like that, guy. I hear ya. But can't. Appreciate the acidic comment though. --The Mississauga Muse.]
On the Rambo issue, I’ve just visited Dalton McGuinty's Face-book site and tried to post this ridiculous Bill 132 up along with some puppy pictures.
