Sorry, but no time to actually write about yesterday's Lakeview Legacy presentation. (Council right to the end yesterday, then Mississauga Youth Plan meeting and today Peel Youth Violence Prevention meeting, Peel Regional Council and then another Peel Youth Violence Prevention meeting. It's --like, non-stop).
So this is all I got. But I wanted to drop it down right now.
My question to Mississauga Council.
VIDEO: LAKEVIEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING QUESTION

Yesterday, John (Bless his heart) Stewart weighed in on Malton in his Blog, Random Access. Great title that says it all "Orphan child of Mississauga". Please read it.
That's it.

Great to see you take the stand before Council and ask such an important question.
Will there be affordable housing next - anywhere near the richer then we will ever be Port Credit Yacht Club’s new backyard? NO WAY! In the past it has been said it will be big new park - now we see lots of plans for towering high priced housing for those who can afford it & smaller units for the lesser rich.
Fact is it will slowly become what I have said it would be years ago. The playground for Mississauga’s well-to-do. This is the way the really bad sprawl decisions are made, get people in the community together who want something gone, support them and then profit from the results.
What we end up with will not be what we really need but what a small group want & to profit from. Full marks for the dog & pony show in Council, got good video of it.
Trying to post picture I took - will it work? Like the background poster.

Hey there, Don,
Had to laugh at Mississauga Council gushing about how "phenomenal" it was that there's a "visionary" community that actually embraces Intensification and high rises.
*ROLLLLFF*
I'm sure that 100% of communities would prefer luxury waterfront Intensification to the spectre of another generating plant.
There's clearly a hierarchy of live-beside preferences.
People seem to prefer living beside luxury Intensification and $tourist$ $attraction$ $jewels$ to a generating plant.
Quel surprise.
However, if given the choice between living beside a generating plant (even an inefficent one) or affordable housing project?... I think there'd be people who'd prefer Coal over Poor.
All I wanted to do going up there was to drop down an opportunity for Council to commit to all those Visioning noises about caring community, inclusiveness, affordable housing (yeah, I actually saw a couple of stickers with "affordable housing" in among all those dozens of "WATERFRONT" and "VIBRANT CORE" stickers.
Oh there was "diversity" there those two Visioning Daze.
I've concluded that Numbers not only matter, Numbers are the Only thing. This one $$$$.

Dear Human Services Colleagues:
As many of you are aware much of Peel’s social programs and services are delivered by non-profit organizations in Caledon , Brampton and Mississauga . Both the United Way of Peel Region and the Region of Peel play a key role in supporting non-profit organizations by providing various resources including yearly funding. United Way of Peel Region and the Region of Peel are conducting a review of their respective investments and funding strategies. The results from this review will inform and develop a new funding vision relevant to the needs of Peel Region with implementation in the 2009/2010 funding cycle.
As part of the community engagement process, a survey has been developed to provide residents of Peel Region with an opportunity to tell us about community issues that are important to them. The English version of the survey is available online on United Way of Peel Region’s website: www.unitedwaypeel.org or the survey can be accessed via this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=1u5IK1elYZWNrPaamb_2bIxw_3d_3d
The survey is also available in the following languages: Polish, Punjabi, Urdu, Spanish and French. These surveys are attached to this email. Please assist us in disseminating the surveys to your clients. Once completed the surveys in different languages can be faxed back to (905) 602-3651.
The online survey will remain open until March 7, 2008 @ 4:30p.m. Please take the next 10 - 15 minutes to complete the survey. We also ask that you encourage our mutual human services clients to complete the survey as well.
