MISSISSAUGA COUNCIL "PRO FORMA"s OMBUDSMAN (in 16 SECONDS!)

On October 31, 2007, Ontario Ombudsman, Andre Marin said this:

"Right now the debate --city councils one after the other--across this province are debating whether or not to oust the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman.

WHY "OPEN" or "CLOSED" DOESN'T MATTER IN MISSISSAUGA

Zero debate. Mississauga City Council approved Ousting the Ombudsman and going with Municipalities-controlled, Local Authority Services in 16 seconds! 16 seconds.

You've GOT to watch this video. When Acting-Mayor, Pat Saito asks "All in Favour?" NOT A SINGLE HAND WENT UP! And then she says, "That carries."

Have to head off to Peel Regional Council now where they will be "debating" the closed meeting "investigator" issue once again.

Just want to leave Ontarians (yes, Ontarians --because this isn't just about Mississauga, or Brampton or Caledon or Ajax or Fort Erie. It's about Ontario and the Future of Ontario) with more words from the Ontario Ombudsman:

"Municipal councils are elected. They're elected representatives. And these (closed) meetings, where important matters are decided HAVE to be held in open meetings because otherwise, you're dealing with despotic governments."
