I just received(last week) a recorded message from MP Guy Lauzon looking for my support and some volunteer hrs.

Only problem with his request, is that he dismissed me with a flip of his hand when I went in to discuss the Cochrane v. Ontario ruling and the violation of my FEDERAL CHARTER RIGHTS!

I don`t think Guy had re-election on his mind at that time.

I had been told by phone and email that Bill 132 was a Provincial "issue" but I`m not that easily dissuaded.

It was a Provincial "issue" until Judge Thea Herman ruled in Cochrane v. Ontario

I hate to hog the comments but...

I just took "UP YOURS DALTON" to my Township Office to be designated by my "By Law" guy.
This is a really good guy by the way.

I initially spoke to him on the phone this morning about what I wanted.
He didn`t think they really wanted to get into the business of "designating" dogs.
I explained to him that I didn`t think that was optional because the Province has dumped the enforcement on the Municipality.
So I explained about Rambo and other death row doggies
and the haphazard way that this law is being enforced or NOT.
I told him I needed to know if the Municipality had the legal authority to designate or if they didn`t or if he wasn`t sure but I needed to have something on their Letterhead.
So he told me to bring the dog in and they would photograph it and discuss it.
So off I went.
The Staff had quite a chuckle until I told them about all the dogs that are being killed and all the charges being laid.
The laughter quickly subsided.

Here are the categories I gave my AC guy.
(I didn`t get into the "restrictions")

1)3 Banned Pure breeds.
"By-law" guy had never heard of or seen these 3 breeds.He said he could probably only identify the 4 breeds that he has owned!

2)"Substantially similar" dogs

3) Not "substantially similar" dogs

4)Illegal dogs-#1 and #2 dogs born after Nov 30/05

He asked me if there was a DNA test or any other test available.
None that will stand up in court,I said.

I told him to make sure that a designation of "Not substantially similar" will stand up in court just in case I`m walking this dog unmuzzled in another area and their "By law" guy happens to think the dog is "Substantially similar"

I might be wrong but I suspect he`s going to send my request to the Ontario Gov`t because he`s not sure what they mean by "substantially similar"

I told him to make sure he uses my dog`s new "official" name in all correspondence with the Gov`t.

...and that brings us back to

"I see the problem"

I would urge people with "legal" dogs that are currently being muzzled out of fear or because you`re erring on the side of caution to take your dogs in and ask for an official designation.
You never know,you might be able to legally take off that muzzle.

I understand why people with "illegal" dogs don`t go in.

And as I was told this morning by a Lab/Boxer owner who isn`t muzzling-"Why draw attention to yourself?"

Why indeed?
They might just declare your dog "substantially similar" and order
you to comply or worse.
If the dog was born after Nov 30/05 you may have to try and save it`s life by proving it`s NOT an Ontario "Pit Bull"

I should mention to people that are outraged by Rambo`s case...

that the Octogenarian in the photos with the small black dog, was breaking the law(Bill 132) when these photos were taken.

She could have been charged for failing to comply with the "special" provisions for those "special" dogs and her "special" dog could have been seized and slaughtered.

Politicians "ban" people all the time by ignoring emails,blocking email addresses,refusing to answer registered letters,refusing to allow experts to testify at committee hearings,refusing to listen to experts at committee hearings.

In reference to Mayor McCallion’s own letter January 9 2002, file No 1, posted on Face book (Yeah I from Mississauga) the City of Mississauga’s uses the same Continuing Quality Improvement Centre- Self Employment programs that were recently charged under the Frauds Criminal Code Offences Act.

Why would Attorney General Chris Bentley (former Labor Minister) want Gabriela Nowakowksa to respond to allegations that may or may not be then turn the “Willful Blind Eye” on serious issues involving his own Minister of Industry, Sandra Pupatello who also witnessed fraud was being concealed from the crown since October 24 2001?

You covered the John Danson-Queenie hearings yourself John. The City spends $66 million a year just to shift the burden on thru pooling “One Time Reallocation Allowances” under the same programs.

They should just give the dog back to Gabriela or subpoena Hazel to the stand to clarify her letters.

Thank you for mentioning that the people protesting the law were ignored by the Ontario Fiberals, just as the Fiberals ignored the evidence that proved that BSL is ineffective, unworkable and fiscally irresponsible. All of the canine experts and 80% of the presenters at the Committee hearings on Bill 132 opposed breed specific legislation.

4. Who is 'everybody' and why is what they 'know' important?

We were ignored. All experts were ignored. All experienced dog owners were ignored. All animal welfare groups, including the OSPCA, were ignored. OVMA, CKC, RSPCA, you name it. Ignored.

So was the City of Kitchener. So was Mississauga. So was Sudbury.

And now the former Attorney General finds himself demoted and the Ministry is in court responding to a lawsuit.

And ordinary people who have committed no crime are being put through the wringer.
