When's the next hockey lockout?

Hockey season hasn't even started yet and I'm sick of it already. Today's sports section of The Toronto Star has wall-to-wall hockey stories on the first three pages and they don't even start playing exhibition - yes, exhibition - games until the weekend!

I was a fan for years when I was young and there were six real teams. Blue Jackets were something Leaf fans wore. A Mighty Duck was what you took when you were playing the Bruins and Leo Boivin had you lined up.

Hey sports editors: there are lots of other sports out there that deserve some ink, too.

They even play some amateur sports in this country, too.

As usual, we disagree. I missed hockey last year and I can't wait to drop the puck this year. John, you're probably one of those guys who spends his whole weekend watching U.S. football. Hockey is Canada's game, man. Long live Don Cherry.

John Granic:

Like you I'm sick of hockey season. Honestly as a child I was kept away from all sports except soccer.
However, I got sick of hockey the minute the greedy hockey players started complaining about not getting paid enough. And yes, I'm referring to the latest lockout.
If I had the power I'd gladly have the cry-baby hockey players trade jobs with me for a month. They'd never complain about their job and "poor pay" compared to my under-$25,000 a year.
And maybe just maybe then all the major dailies would cover every sport except for hockey. Well, one can dream.

Owen Jarus:

During the lockout we got alot of coverage of things that wouldn't normally get. The London Knights winning streak in the OHL for instance, i never payed attention to that league before the lockout.
